Summarized
The TrimbleĀ® TSC510 and TSC710 controllers have an issue that has affected a small number of devices causing them to randomly enter Recovery Mode. This potentially affects all TSC510 & TSC710 controllers shipped from Trimble during Q4 2025 & Q1 2026. Trimble has found the root cause of this issue and has fixed all devices in their inventory that will ship from Q2 2026 onward. An Operating System v94 update will be delivered to devices starting in early May that resolves the issue. Backup of data is required before installing OS v94 or before performing a factory reset.
Symptoms and First Steps
- The controller might get stuck on the Trimble or Spectra logo, the Powered By Android screen or even the animated boot screen
- The controller might just show a blank screen with a dim backlight
- The controller may boot into Android Recovery Mode
What to do first?
- Leave the device ON the stuck screen for about 30 minutes. If you are stuck where you are, press and hold the POWER key until the LED light turns off briefly, then turns back on.
If 'Android Recovery' Appears
- Click 'Try Again'. If your device boots up correctly, IMMEDIATELY back up your data, then complete the OS update or factory reset.
If you are already using this device
- Back up your data stored on the device before you do anything else
- Once the backup is fully completed, install OS v94 or perform a one-time factory reset
- If you install OS v94, you won't have to perform the out-of-box setup process again
- A factory reset requires the device to be set up again and Trimble software to be re-installed
- If the factory reset has already been done, there is no need to do it again.
